Aldi employees get fat wage increase

According to the information, this one-time payment is 1 percent of the annual salary of the employees. The wage concept for 2023 also envisages “structural changes”. According to a media release, a total of 3 percent is thus invested in the wage bill.
Highest Minimum Wage
With the general wage increase of 1 percent, the company continues to have the highest minimum wage in the Swiss retail sector. According to the announcement, full-time employees with a minimum wage now receive CHF 4,646 a month plus a 13th monthly salary of the same amount.
According to its own statements, Aldi was awarded the “We Pay Fair” label this year after a statistical review of wages by the Competence Center for Diversity & Inclusion (CCDI) at the University of St. Gallen. This attests the company equal pay for equal work.
Other retailers also pay higher wages
The retail giant Coop will increase wages by 2 percent in 2023. Including additional shopping vouchers, the cooperative even makes 3 percent available for higher staff remuneration.
Migros will increase remuneration in a range from 2.0 to 2.8 percent. Minimum wages will also be increased. The minimum wage for positions that do not require an apprenticeship will be CHF 4,200 from 2024, CHF 4,300 for those who have completed a two-year apprenticeship and CHF 4,400 after a three-year apprenticeship.
The Migros subsidiary Denner has also decided to raise wages for the coming year. The discounter raises the payroll by 2.3 percent.
