Axpo has signed an agreement to sell four wind farms, the company announced on Tuesday. The buyer of the plants is Greencoat Renewables. It was agreed not to disclose the selling price.
It is about 24 wind turbines in the Center-Val de Loire and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions in the heart of France with a total installed capacity of 65.5 megawatts. The systems were developed and commissioned between 2017 and 2022.
Since acquiring the subsidiary Volkswind in 2015, Axpo has been active in the construction and management of wind farms in France and Germany. While some of the wind farms built by Volkswind are to remain in the portfolio, other systems would be sold on to investors in a targeted manner. The transaction is part of this strategy to generate additional income.
Axpo most recently sold five French wind farms to a special fund of Encavis Asset Management AG in July 2021.
