Magic Pass loses magic
Bern’s top 4 ski areas stop discounted day tickets after just one week
Only a week ago, the four largest ski areas in Bern announced that holders of a Magic Pass can ski at a reduced price. Now the railways are already withdrawing the offer due to pressure from the Magic Pass publishers.

Just last week, the four top ski areas in Bern announced that holders of a Magic Pass can now ski for less with them.
Holders of the “Magic Pass” mountain railway tariff network no longer receive discounted day tickets in Bern’s top 4 ski areas. The participating ski areas Adelboden-Lenk, Gstaad, Jungfrau Ski Region and Meiringen-Hasliberg stopped the campaign after just one week.
The Jungfrau Railways announced this on Monday. The offer with the 30 percent discounted day tickets was launched on January 9th. At that time it was said that they wanted to enable as many guests as possible to ski.

The Magic Pass network includes several dozen holiday resorts in Valais and in the cantons of Vaud, Fribourg, Neuchâtel and Bern. The Bernese top 4 areas are not among them. But there are many smaller ski areas in the Bernese Oberland – some of which suffer from a lack of snow due to their lower altitude – that have joined the Magic Pass.
“Those responsible for the Magic Pass urged the top 4 ski areas to stop the campaign,” says the communiqué from the Jungfrau Railways. This request is now being addressed. “The four ski areas involved very much regret that the promotion was only valid for a short time.”
Top 4 ski areas withdraw
The topic is now off the table, as Kathrin Naegeli, spokeswoman for Jungfrau Railways, said on Monday when asked. “For the top 4 ski areas, the matter is too insignificant from an overall economic point of view to pursue it further.” You don’t want a lawsuit.
The Magic Mountains Cooperation as administrator of the Magic Pass did not want to comment on request. The operational manager explained that she took note of the press release from the top 4 ski areas. “Since this is the pricing policy of companies that do not belong to the Magic Pass, the cooperative does not comment on it.” (SDA/shq)
