No doubt: The man of the week is called Adrian Zenz. The German anthropologist engineered the publication of the so-called “Xinjiang Police Files”. Photographs, lists of names, files and audio recordings from inside the Chinese police force provide insight into the nature of Beijing’s secretive campaign to detain up to two million Uyghurs in the northwestern Xinjiang region.

A few hours after the “Xinjiang Police Files” became public, the Swiss embassy in China spoke up on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter. What was the message about? The embassy promotes the quality of Swiss banknotes. They are “safer and more durable than previously issued banknotes – thanks to Durasafe high-security composite substrate and double-layer cotton paper”.
