It all started at Rennweg in Zurich. Blick meets André Lüthi (61) for an interview in the old town, where the Globetrotter travel group has its roots. The desire for long-distance travel is only slowly returning, and various risks are threatening the fragile recovery of the travel agency industry. Even as the boss, Lüthi is still a passionate globetrotter, regularly traveling to his customers’ dream destinations and getting an idea of the local situation.

Blick: You just came back from Nepal. Is there a spirit of optimism again after Corona?
André Luthi:
Not yet. In Nepal, the business of climbing Mount Everest is booming, the climbers are almost backing up there because everyone wants to get to the summit. But trekking tourism, cultural tourism, has been on the ground for two years, hotels and restaurants are closed. Many will never open again!
