Mercedes-Benz recalls C-class cars

The German carmaker Mercedes-Benz is recalling a little more than 100,000 C-Class sedans worldwide. The reason is moisture, which penetrates the cars and can lead to a short circuit. Switzerland is also affected by the recall.

The car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is calling around 100,000 C-Class sedans back to the workshops worldwide. In Switzerland, around 850 vehicles are likely to be affected by the recall. (Iconic image)

In total, the recall in Switzerland involves around 850 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, said a company spokesman for the car manufacturer in Switzerland on Friday at the request of AWP. The cars potentially affected by the recall were registered in the production period from October 2020 to June 2022. The owners of these vehicles would be notified promptly, the spokesman continued.

According to data from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), 10,254 vehicles are probably affected by the recall in Germany. According to Mercedes-Benz, it has determined that moisture can penetrate the signal acquisition and control module (SAM) if water gets into the trunk. A possible short circuit could cause various malfunctions.
