Migros wants to open new shops. A stronger local supply network is a priority for the company, said Zumbrunnen in an interview with Tamedia newspapers on Wednesday. “But it’s not always easy for us to find the right locations,” he continued.
The focus on small shops does not mean that previous supermarkets will be downsized. Migros will also attach great importance to them in the future.
Cost Saving Plan
At the end of 2022, the “orange giant” announced that it wanted to make the supermarket business more efficient and thus save costs. The Migros supermarket business operated by the ten regional cooperatives is complex. The company is examining how the business can be managed in an independent, centrally controlled company.
