Boom in online retail

Migros writes record sales.
According to a media release on Tuesday, the turnover of the entire Migros Group was almost CHF 30.1 billion. That is 3.9 percent more than in the previous year. The group broke the 30 billion franc mark for the first time.
Above all, the travel and leisure business as well as gastronomy grew significantly after the end of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. The tour operator Hotelplan, for example, has more than doubled its sales to CHF 1.44 billion. And gastronomy grew by almost 47 percent to 577 million.
Online trade is booming
The end of the pandemic did not stop the boom in online trading. Total online retail sales across all areas of the group grew by 15.3 percent to 3.7 billion. The online department store Digitec Galaxus increased by 7.4 percent to 2.2 billion.
The retail sales of all Migros companies that deliver to end consumers, on the other hand, fell slightly by 0.2 percent to CHF 23.1 billion. That was to be expected after the lifting of the Covid measures, explained Migros. In particular, the ten cooperatives in Germany had to accept a decline of 2.0 percent to 15.9 billion. (SDA/kae)
