New boss clears deadline tomorrow Friday
Elon Musk wants to lay off half of the Twitter workforce
No stone has been left unturned on Twitter since Elon Musk (51) has been in charge of the short message service. The multi-billionaire believes he can do without half the workforce.

Twitter boss Elon Musk (51) has already cleaned up the executive floor, now he sweeps through the rest of the floors with an iron broom. According to media reports, Musk wants to fire half of the workforce. Specifically, 3,700 of the 7,500 Twitter employees are said to lose their jobs. In the run-up it was even said that 75 percent would have to go.
Those affected should receive the bad news this Friday. Musk urgently needs to cut costs at Twitter because he believes he paid too much money for the acquisitions. The price of $54.20 per share agreed in April for the purchase has since fallen significantly. Therefore, the multi-billionaire wanted to withdraw from the deal several times, but was finally forced by Twitter to pay the agreed price.
Everyone has to go back to the office
Since Musk became the strongman at Twitter, the working atmosphere has deteriorated significantly. For selected projects, employees sometimes have to work twelve hours a day – every day of the week. weekend or friday? None! The weekly working time adds up to 84 hours.
On top of that. So far, Twitter has had a liberal home office policy: anyone who wanted to could work from home. This is now over, from Monday all employees have to work in the office again – if they still have a job at all.
Rumors of drastic job cuts on Twitter had been circulating in the run-up to Musk’s takeover, with up to three-quarters of the workforce being fired. The investor had always denied all these rumors. But now it looks as if Musk is actually implementing his savings plans. (ko)
