New car registrations have declined in 2022
Around 226,000 cars were newly registered in Switzerland last year. That is around 12,000 fewer cars than in the previous year, as the Association of Independent Auto Dealers Switzerland (VFAS) announced on Sunday night.

The level of the pre-Corona period with over 300,000 new registrations has not yet been reached, as stated in the announcement. Women redeemed around a fifth of the cars, men 40 percent. Commercial approvals accounted for the remainder.
Of the new registrations, only every twelfth car had a manual gearbox. The average power was 208 hp, the average weight around 1.7 tons.
According to VFAS, around every second imported car is now electric or has a hybrid drive. According to its own statements, the VFAS bases its evaluation on freely accessible data from the Federal Roads Office (Astra).
