The SBB draft 2023 timetable provides for an expansion of leisure traffic. In return, according to the announcement, individual connections on commuter routes should be saved, for example on the Bern-Zurich line.

Specifically, the SBB want to reduce the offer during peak hours. It is planned to waive the connections with departures in Bern at 7.10 a.m. and 4.10 p.m. and departures in Zurich at 6.49 a.m.

As the SBB announcement from Wednesday also shows, two morning connections on the Lucerne-Zurich route are also affected by the austerity plans. The demand for commuter traffic is not yet at the pre-corona level, it is said to be the reason.

Connections outside of commuter times are also to be saved. Due to low demand, the SBB would like to do without individual trains in the off-peak hours between Zurich and Arth-Goldau and the early train on Sunday mornings from Bellinzona to Zurich.
