Sunrise CEO wants to clear up 5G gossip in his Gold Coast community
A new 5G antenna is causing a stir in Herrliberg. Now even Sunrise CEO André Krause is personally committed to the construction.

The construction of a 5G antenna is a topic of discussion in Herrliberg.
Anyone who lives in the rich Gold Coast community of Herrliberg ZH on Lake Zurich – such as SVP legend Christoph Blocher (82) – has made it. Evening sun, lake view and tax-favorable location. Problems seem far away. But that’s not the case.
5G is giving the Herrlibergern a hard time. The planned construction of a new antenna causes excitement in the 6000-inhabitant town. The residents of the privileged community are up in arms against the project, as reported by the “Tages-Anzeiger”.
“Are also residents of Herrliberg”
On Christmas Eve they now receive mail from an unexpected source. According to the report, Sunrise boss André Krause (52), who lives in Herrliberg with his wife and four children together, is addressing the residents of the posh Lake Zurich community. “Like you, my family and I are also residents of Herrliberg,” he writes.
It is therefore a matter of personal concern to him that the residents of the planned cell phone system are informed correctly and comprehensively. He had received anonymous letters trying to put pressure on residents and stir up fears with false claims.
“We don’t want to be radiated”
The mood is heated. “We don’t want to be exposed to radiation,” complained a local resident to “Züri Today” in November. Since the fall, they and other homeowners have been up in arms against the construction of the antenna.
Sunrise CEO Krause is in favor of the construction of the six meter high 5G antenna. According to the “Tages-Anzeiger” he wants to ground the resistance against it. “As CEO of Sunrise, I have been committed to fact-based information about mobile communications and 5G for years,” writes Krause to the residents of Herrliberg. Stirring up fears with false claims is not an option.
“Like when a private person builds a house”
The radiation with the new system does not increase significantly, writes Krause. The strict Swiss limit values would be observed. The protection of the population is guaranteed at all times. «If all regulations are complied with, Sunrise has the right to build the cell site. Just like when a private individual wants to build a house,” says Krause. He invites the population to an information event on January 12th. (pbe)
