Advertising instead of subscription
Sunrise launches free TV offer via Yallo
While most TV offers are only available as a subscription or for a fee, Sunrise is now taking a different approach with Yallo and is bringing free television financed by advertising.
The television landscape in Switzerland is becoming even more colourful.
The telecommunications group Sunrise has launched an offer for a free and advertising-financed TV offer via its cheap brand Yallo. The product, called “Yallo Free TV”, is comparable to the Wilmaa streaming service purchased by Sunrise in summer 2020.
The TV offer is financed by advertising and can also be used by non-Yallo customers. The free television can be received via Apple TV and certain Android TV devices as well as the “Yallo TV Box” or via app and internet browser.
30 minutes ad-free
As with Wilmaa, for example, two to five commercials would be shown when playing recordings or changing channels. The channel can then be changed as often as you like for 30 minutes without commercial breaks.
Maximum 30 hours per month
With the free offer, however, it is not possible to use a replay function or to program series recordings. Recordings made, which according to the information are only available after registration, will be deleted after 14 days. Furthermore, usage on the TV is limited to 30 hours per month.
Sunrise also emphasized that the Wilmaa streaming service will be available until further notice, but that it will be completely replaced by “Yallo Free TV” at a later date. (SDA/shq)
