Swiss SMEs do not want to limit themselves to China

Swiss SMEs geared towards the Asian market are relocating their production to Vietnam, Thailand or India. With such a second location, companies could prepare for a possible escalation in China, said export promoter Simone Wyss Fedele.

Simone Wyss Fedele, head of Switzerland Global Enterprise, explains that the Chinese market is very important for Swiss companies.

“We see a trend: ‘China + 1’,” says Switzerland’s top export promoter, Simone Wyss Fedele (43). In an interview with “Switzerland at the weekend”, she reports that Swiss SMEs that could afford it would relocate production for the Asian market to Vietnam, Thailand or India. With a second location, the companies could prepare for a “possible escalation”.

Certain Swiss SMEs have already withdrawn from the Chinese market. “There are companies that cannot or do not want to afford risk management,” says the economist.
