A new study by Linkedin shows the ten jobs with the greatest future prospects.
Anyone who has completed an IT apprenticeship can count themselves lucky: According to the X28 job radar, over 30,000 IT positions were vacant in Switzerland last year. And the trend is pointing steeply upwards. By 2030, labor market experts expect that the Swiss economy will need 119,000 additional IT specialists.
These are the 10 jobs with the best future prospects
In no other industry are the future prospects better. This is also shown by a new study by the LinkedIn careers platform. The study lists the 10 jobs with the greatest future prospects in Switzerland. Seven out of ten are IT jobs. Blick explains the sometimes cryptic job descriptions.
A data engineer is concerned with collecting, processing and testing data. In our increasingly digital world, every larger company now needs a data engineer.
Site Reliability Engineer
Site Reliability Engineers use their development and programming skills to build software that helps IT and support staff do their jobs better and faster.
The backend is the technology and the programs that regulate the processes in the background of a website. It consists of servers, databases and so-called server-side applications. A backend developer ensures that all these components work together smoothly. We users don’t notice anything when everything is going well.
Devops is made up of the words “development” and “operations”. Devops engineers therefore develop solutions for better cooperation between IT development teams and their colleagues who are responsible for the smooth running of the operational business.
Machine Learning Developer
As the name suggests, such a developer deals with machine learning. The aim is to use algorithms to teach a computer to learn on its own. Machine learning is often equated with the term artificial intelligence.
Customer Satisfaction Manager
This job title is relatively self-explanatory: it is about establishing and maintaining a good relationship with the customer. So that customers can use a product in the best possible way and remain customers for as long as possible.

An engineering manager is responsible for the concept, design and content of the construction and expansion of software. The tasks of engineering managers range from analytical and process-related fields of activity to leading teams.
IT industry is still a male domain
In the fight against the shortage of skilled workers in IT, companies want to attract more women into the industry. However, the Linkedin study shows that this has not been successful, at least in view of the last few years. Across the board, many more men than women were hired for the seven IT jobs in the top 10.
The discrepancy is most extreme among the so-called “site reliability managers”: Here only six percent of the newly hired specialists were women. Across all IT jobs in the list, the proportion is around 80 percent men and only 20 percent women.
Barbara Wittman, Linkedin country manager for the German-speaking region, says: “The clear result of our analysis: IT jobs are booming. But the truth is that it is mainly men who benefit from it. Hiring rates of over 80 or even 90 percent male applicants should give companies pause and motivate them to create a better balance in their IT teams and female role models.”
