Potent investors can buy the Robinson Club in Arosa.
There is a lot of dynamism in the Graubünden hotel industry! Various traditional houses are currently coming onto the market. Most are in need of refurbishment. But because of its location, it has potential that will attract potential investors and encourage them to make a purchase.
For example the Hotel Schweizerhof in Vulpera GR, currently in the hands of a Dutch investment company. The house was built in 1900. And has an eventful history behind it. It has been empty for years. The former luxury hotel with 60,000 overnight stays a year was under discussion as accommodation for asylum seekers. A deep fall.
Famous guests and a sophisticated club
The story was more glamorous decades earlier, when writer Thomas Mann (1875 to 1955) came and went. In 1949 he paid his first visit to Germany after his exile in the USA. Shortly thereafter he stayed at the Schweizerhof with various other writers. There he wrote his “Speech on the Year of Goethe”. The hotel has been empty since April 2016.
At its best, the hotel had 128 guest rooms, two restaurants with 345 seats, a bar, a sophisticated nightclub and a staff building for 70 employees. Today, the sellers also offer it for “alternative uses, for example in the healthcare sector”.
134 rooms and a staff house
Also on the market is the Hotel Robinson Club in Arosa GR, as the “Südostschweiz” writes. A house with 134 single and double rooms as well as a staff house for 67 employees – in a prime location. It is now being sold due to an expiring contract with the operator. Here, too, investors are likely to strike quickly. (pbe)
