Alois Zwinggi (60) resisted the corona virus for two years. But just before the first annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) after the forced Corona break, the Omicron variant caught the executive director. After the virtual conversation with Blick, the virus forces Zwinggi to take a break for a few days. In a hoarse voice he talks about Corona, the extraordinary date in summer and the major challenges in the crisis year 2022. But Zwinggi is confident that he will be fit again in time for the start of the annual meeting.

Blick: A WEF in May – was there resistance in Davos to the unusual date?
Alois Zwinggi: No, the appointment was met with a great deal of goodwill. Congress tourism has suffered badly from Corona, so the people of Davos are very happy that we are back. We feel a lot of support from the hotel industry, extra-hotel industry and gastronomy as well as the community.
