After the mysterious death of a lappet vulture at the Dallas Zoo, the US zoo has offered a hefty reward for information leading to the incident. The zoo wants to shell out 10,000 dollars (almost 9,200 euros) for decisive information on the cause of death of vulture Pin, as it announced on Tuesday (local time).

The carcass of the 35-year-old vulture was discovered over the weekend. The Texas zoo said his death “did not appear to be from natural causes.”

“Losing him is devastating not only for our zoo family but also for the conservation efforts for this species,” the zoo wrote on Twitter. “Everyone will miss Pin terribly.”

According to zoo director Gregg Hudson, the death is being closely investigated. “Everyone is a suspect at this point – internally and externally,” he said. Because the dead bird of prey belongs to an endangered species, even federal officials got involved in the investigation.
