This hotel in the middle of the Engadin mountains is one of the oldest accommodations in Switzerland. The house was built around the year 1500 and has always attracted guests. The building was originally a law inn, which was later converted. Celebrities like Albert Einstein enjoyed a break in the Engadin. The hotel is located directly on the historic village square of Zuoz. The unique façade of the building and the idyllic village square make the hotel a popular backdrop for photos and films.

Landgasthof Ruedihus, Kandersteg BE
The Landgasthof Ruedihus in Kandersteg is a popular destination for people who want to enjoy the beauty of the Bernese Alps. The country inn has been around since 1753 and is located near the Dolderhorn. A ensign named Peter Germann had the Ruedihus built and used it as a residence.
It was later acquired by Rudolf Reichen, who gave it its current name. The interior is characterized by a mixture of old and modern furniture. The inn is an ideal starting point for hikes and mountain tours. There are numerous paths with different levels of difficulty.

Grimsel Hospice, Guttannen BE
“Where modernity and the past meet”, is the slogan of the Hotel Grimsel Hospiz. It was built shortly before 1400 on the Grimsel Pass and was originally a hostel for poor hikers. After renovations between 2008 and 2010, the hotel became a charmingly decorated destination.
A special highlight is the crystal exhibition in one of the rock tunnels near the Grimsel Hospice. The crystals were found in 2019 during blasting work for a new dam. Now they are open to visitors.

Knight’s House Chasa de Capol, Val Müstair GR
Spend the night in an 800-year-old knight’s house? In the Chasa de Capol this is possible. The history of the knight’s house goes back to the 12th century. Part of the accommodation still consists of old foundation walls. When you linger in the historic house, you can feel the spirit of its former residents.
In the historic inn, Alpine dishes are still cooked in old copper pans and wines that mature in a Carolingian cellar are served. Each room is different and tells a different story.

Bellevue des Alpes, Kleine Scheidegg BE
The historic Hotel Bellevue des Alpes is one of the few remaining grand hotels from the 19th century. It is run by a family and is located on the Kleine Scheidegg. From there you have a view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The property has been around since 1840 and is now run by the fifth generation of the family. The furnishing of the hotel with furniture from the 1920s is unusual. The historic rooms take you back in time.
The Kleine Schneidegg is car-free. You can either get there from Lauterbrunnen via Wengen to the “Kleine Scheidegg” station – or you can take a lift from Grindelwald to the station.

Hotel du Pillon, Les Diablerets VD
Built in 1875, the hotel is one of the last grand hotels of that time and is located on the edge of the Col du Pillon pass road. It was restored in 2007 by a Parisian art dealer and furnished with antique furniture and original mountain paintings. The facade of the hotel is now a listed building. Guests have a view of the Diablerets Glacier area from the balcony.

Grand Hôtel Bella Tola, St-Luc VS
The alpine Grand Hôtel Bella Tola is located in the French part of the Valais, in the Val d’Anniviers. The hotel, built in 1859, is furnished with great attention to detail. Old furniture and special objects adorn the historic rooms. To this day there are still real treasures to be seen there; the salon, for example, which still has the wood paneling and parquet flooring from that era. Also preserved are painted ceiling art and the collection of etchings by Swiss artist Édouard Vallet (1876–1929).

Hotel Albrici, Poschiavo GR
If you want to experience a comfortable holiday at the village square of Poschiavo, the Hotel Albrici is the right place for you. While staying there you can experience the history of the former palazzo. The historic building was built in 1682 by the mayor named Bernardi Massella. He furnished the state rooms with Renaissance elements and coffered ceilings. The building has belonged to the Albrici family since the 19th century, from which the current hotel takes its name. The owners of the inn try to preserve the historic rooms with great care.

Grand Hôtel des Rasses, Les Rasses VD
The three-star hotel in Belle Epoque style was built in 1898 in the heart of the Vaud Jura. It is in the middle of a large park. From there you have a view of the Alps up to Mont Blanc. The hotel attaches great importance to the preservation of historical rooms, which are furnished with selected antiques. The Belle Epoque restaurant, which is reminiscent of an old ballroom, is famous.

This cozy inn in the Lower Engadine is ideal for nature lovers. In 1482 the farm was used as a customs station. The court was later developed by a then-famous Dutch conductor named Willem Mengelberg. He built a chalet next to the farm where he and his friends could stay. After Mengelberg’s death, the chalet was first used as a holiday home for musicians and later passed on.
The inn and the chalet are furnished with antique furniture and lots of wood from earlier times. The farm can only be reached on foot and it takes about an hour to get there.
