One of the greatest Christmas classics…
There is hardly any other time of year that Hollywood rushes to as much as Christmas. The potential for good films around the Christmas season is huge.
A tragedy at Christmas is even more emotional and dramatic for the viewer. Love stories are all the more beautiful and heartwarming, and Christmas comedies are reminiscent of your own funny stories under the Christmas tree.
The community likes these Christmas films
Even on streaming platforms, you can hardly save yourself from Christmas films and series at the moment. And rightly so: according to studies, Christmas films can have a cheering effect on us. They release feel-good hormones, boost dopamine production in our bodies, and make us feel better naturally.
Blick wanted to know: Which Christmas film do you particularly like and why? The fairytale film “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” from 1973 is very popular with many. Reader Michèle comments on the film simply: “For me THE Christmas film par excellence. It’s so beautiful, I just have to shed a tear every now and then.”

The almost 40-year-old classic is not the only older film that is still a must-see for the Blick community at Christmas. Also often mentioned: “The Little Lord” (1980). Reader Michael writes: «An unforgettable film with Sir Alec Guinness. A great story about a little boy who grew up in poverty, with a grandiose character and a sweet heart. How the lovely boy has a surprising influence on his grumpy old grandfather, simply unforgettable, I look forward to this film every year!”
“Nice Christmas Eve” (1989) with Chevy Chase should not be missing from this list! Several readers contacted Blick and named this film. Representative of the comment of reader Manuela: «When I saw it for the first time 31 years ago, I swore to myself to see this film every year. Of course I know it by heart now!”
By the way: Soda, Blick’s social magazine, asked its community the same question. The result: Even the supposedly younger generation wouldn’t want to do without real Christmas classics such as “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella”, “Sissi” or “The Grinch”:
