The Swiss wine scene is characterized by its many facets. More than 200 grape varieties are grown in the smallest of spaces. The wine happenings in our country are just as diverse. Wine freaks get their money’s worth here, as do beginners who want to get a taste of wine. That is why the Swiss wine landscape is the focus of the following selection.
With friends: Wyschiff
Are you interested in the story and the face behind the wine? This is exactly what the events of the “Wyschiff” association offer, which mainly take place in the winter months. Well-known self-press makers from Swiss family businesses talk shop with visitors in nine cities about their creations. As the name suggests, this is done on the water. Landlubbers are also catered for, with several venues set to land on solid ground in 2023.
Feelings of home: Day of the open wine cellars
The “Open Wine Cellar Days” format is a must for many wine enthusiasts. It takes place in different wine regions between April and May. In German-speaking Switzerland, the time has already come on the last weekend in April. But wine producers also welcome their guests to their estates in Ticino, Valais, Neuchâtel and Vaud. Here you can experience the Swiss wine tradition up close.
Finds: Swiss Wine Days
Far away from the mainstream, this small wine fair from May 4th to 5th, 2023 presents itself more like a colorful weekly market. The curious will get their money’s worth here. In Basel you can chat in a relaxed atmosphere with many young winegrowers and established wine personalities from smaller companies over a tasting sip.
Wine art: Swiss Wine Tasting
For once you can not only marvel at paintings, sculptures and installations in the Kunsthaus Zürich. From 27th to 28th August 2023, Swiss winegrowers will lure visitors to the museum. Here you can see for yourself whether the promising 2022 wine year will meet the high expectations. As in the art world, traditional and unconventional discoveries await you.
Lend a hand: On the pulse of the harvest
Undoubtedly the highlight of the winemaking calendar is the harvest. If you would like to experience for yourself how intense this phase feels, you can take part in “Pulse of the Harvest” in autumn. After an introduction by the professionals, the sweaty work follows. Your commitment as an amateur winegrower will be rewarded with a convivial evening and a hearty winegrower’s meal. You’ll never be closer to the action again!
