This is how you break your frying pan

There is at least one frying pan in every household. They can be made of different materials such as stainless steel, aluminum or cast iron or they can be coated with Teflon. The plastic ensures that food does not fry as quickly, which is why such pans are very popular. However, it also makes them more sensitive than uncoated variants.

No matter what kind of pan you have: In any case, you should follow the manufacturer’s instructions in order to have something of the cookware for as long as possible. If you want to be careful with it, you should pay attention to the following things.

Do not use metal cutlery in pans

Neither spatulas nor metal cutlery should come into contact with coated pans. Otherwise you risk scratching the material, which can cause small pieces to come loose. In order to rule out possible health risks, defective frying pans should no longer be used.

Do not heat empty Teflon pans

In order to avoid the vapors that can form after about three minutes in empty pans with a Teflon coating, you should never place them empty on hot stovetops. Induction plates in particular quickly reach very high temperatures, which can lead to overheating of the cookware and damage to the non-stick coating. However, Teflon fumes only become dangerous for people at a pan temperature of 360 degrees. If you maintain a lower smoke point – even with refined oils it is a maximum of 200 degrees – there is no need to worry.
