On a street in Herisau AR, a police speedometer went up in smoke on Friday. This resulted in property damage of around two hundred thousand francs. The police believe the cause of the fire is technical.
The emergency call about the fire on St. Gallerstrasse was received by the cantonal authorities shortly before 4.30 p.m., as the Appenzell Ausserrhoden cantonal police announced on Saturday. Heavy smoke was pouring out of the so-called semi-stationary device. Firefighters quickly got the fire under control and put it out.
A total of around 20 emergency services from the fire brigade, the police and the rescue service were deployed. Nobody got hurt. (SDA)
