Defamation, violence and threats: In Valais, a computer scientist is guilty of something. Now he has been arrested by the Valais public prosecutor. He is accused, among other things, of threatening authorities and officials as well as attempted extortion.
The computer scientist concerned had developed software for some city police forces and the cantonal fire brigade to manage their data. Several complaints were filed against the man, who runs an IT company, the public prosecutor wrote in a statement on Tuesday.
After initial investigations, an investigation into defamation, violence or threats against authorities and officials, attempted extortion and attempted coercion was launched at the end of 2022.
The accused, who is presumed innocent, was remanded in custody due to the risk that he might commit an offence. A psychiatric report was commissioned to determine in particular his possible dangerousness. Further investigations are ongoing. (SDA)
