Boris H. has been in prison for months.
A Bernese Boris H.* (50), who is said to have killed his wife Viola H.* († 54), has to appear in court today. In March 2021, a Bern ex-CEO is said to have killed his wife with a poisoned porridge. The process begins on Monday.
The woman died in March 2021 in a hospital in Bern. The cause of death was unclear. Investigators found signs that the woman may have died of drug poisoning. The man was CEO of a consulting company in the IT industry.
The reason for the act is said to have been the unhappy marriage. The Berner is said to have ordered large quantities of a drug against gout on the Internet. It is toxic if overdosed. Side effects include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The man is said to have assumed that nobody suspected him because the wife suffered from an eating disorder.
Suspicion of common gastrointestinal disease
He is said to have pulverized the tablets and mixed them into his wife’s porridge for a long time. Viola H. had to struggle with diarrhea and vomiting a short time later, but the hospital sent her home with suspicion of a common gastrointestinal disease.
On March 22, the 54-year-old was still not feeling better and was hospitalized again. Two days later her circulation failed. Multiple organ failure. Viola H. died in the hospital.
In early April 2021, her husband was arrested. The public prosecutor charged him with murder, possible intentional or negligent homicide and other offenses. The judgment of the Bern-Mittelland regional court of first instance is expected for January 19.
The ex-CEO is presumed innocent until a final judgment has been passed. A new date for the court hearing has not yet been set. (SDA/jwg)
