Expansion of the district heating network: Basel-Stadt is planning steps to phase out gas by 2037

The gas network in the canton of Basel-Stadt will be shut down by 2037. The first decommissionings are scheduled to take place in 2026. From 2028, the energy supplier IWB will take around 1,000 gas connections off the network every year, as the canton announced on Thursday.
