Quarter cordoned off
Man with gun triggers police operation in Brugg AG
In Brugg AG, a man appeared several times with a gun at the window. It took the police hours to arrest him.
A 39-year-old Swiss triggered a large-scale police operation in Umiken (Gemeinde Brugg AG) on Saturday afternoon. The single-family home was locked for hours before the man was arrested.
This was announced by the Aargau cantonal police on Sunday. She was alerted shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday. A resident had repeatedly shown himself with a gun at the window. On the spot, the police tried to control the man. But he kept withdrawing.
The police therefore cordoned off the quarter and brought the surrounding residents to safety. The man initially refused to surrender. Only after several hours were specialists from the canton police able to get the man to leave the house and be arrested. The operation ended shortly after 10:30 p.m. All residents were then allowed to return to their homes. The public prosecutor’s office ordered a blood and urine sample from the arrested person. (SDA)
