On Friday morning, the police were still on site to ensure the clean-up work in the forest. The police took action against the loud rave party in Montagny-les-Monts on Thursday after numerous residents complained about noise pollution from the illegally organized party.
By 10 p.m., most people had left the site, Martial Pugin, head of communications for the Friborg cantonal police, told Keystone-ATS on Friday morning.
The police kept the site “under observation” during the night and made sure that the few dozen people still present, including the organizers, dismantled the infrastructure and put the site back in order. People who would not have been able to leave the site would have been given permission to spend the night there.
As early as Thursday afternoon, the police had shut down the organizer’s music system, according to a statement from the Freiburg cantonal police on Thursday evening. Nobody was injured in the action. More than 150 people were still present. Material relevant to the investigation was confiscated by order of the competent authority.
Around 1:20 a.m. early Thursday morning, the police were notified of the illegally organized festival in Montagny-les-Monts, in the Chanéa forest, a statement said. Around 100 calls were received in which noise pollution was mentioned. The residents and residents of the surrounding communities were affected as well as wildlife and nature.
Several police patrols were then dispatched and found that several hundred revelers from several cantons, but also from other European countries, were present. According to the canton police, music was played at high volume.
Some hostile participants
While attempts were made to negotiate with those present, other participants behaved hostilely towards the police and threw stones and bottles at the police officers. A vehicle was damaged.
The Broye District Clerk ordered the unauthorized event to be terminated. According to police knowledge, the organizers planned the arrival of more than 3000 people for the weekend.
A large police force had been mobilized to counteract this; Freiburg had also requested reinforcements from the western Swiss security group.
