Pensioner couple († 76 and † 77) dies in a car accident
Two pensioners died in an accident in Degersheim. The cause of the accident is still unclear – according to the police, there was no snow on the road at the time of the accident.

Fatal accident in Degersheim SG: A driver († 77) drove from Moos towards Wolfertswil on Friday afternoon. For reasons that are still unknown, he left the roadway and crashed his car into a tree. Despite the rescue measures initiated by the rescue workers, the driver and his passenger († 76) died on site. As a spokeswoman for the St. Gallen cantonal police confirmed on a Blick request, the two deceased are a married couple.
The car, a white Golf, was totaled. The road had to be closed while the accident was being investigated. The police are now investigating the cause of the accident together with the public prosecutor’s office. The snow can currently be ruled out as the cause: at the time of the accident, no one was on the road, the police spokeswoman told Blick. (bab)
