At 3:20 a.m. Saturday night, a police patrol was stopped by a taxi driver. He said a farm on the main road in Kriegstetten SO would burn. The fire brigade was called immediately and was able to extinguish the fire. The damage to property was minor and no one was injured. But: The police suspect arson!
The suspicion is no coincidence: As the police say to Blick, it is the ninth time that there has been a fire in the region since the beginning of April. Investigators are puzzled. His son Fabian (16) and his colleagues only claim to have followed a dark figure on Konrad Wanzenried’s (53) farm in Keep – unsuccessfully.
Kapo Solothurn has now initiated extensive investigations. “Which ones, we don’t want to say that for tactical reasons,” spokesman Bruno Gribi told Blick this week. One is aware that a series of fires triggers fear and insecurity in the population. That’s why every hint is important. Because the goal is clear: “We want to stop this series of fires as quickly as possible so that the alleged perpetrators can be held accountable.” Apparently that hasn’t worked out so far.
The police are asking people who have made suspicious observations about the latest fire to contact the Solothurn canton police on 032 627 70 00. (of)
