The son of the mayor of Frauenfeld was attacked on Saturday night.
In the middle of the night, the mayor of Frauenfeld, Anders Stokholm (56), is woken up by a ringing bell. “3.30 a.m. I get a phone from my son, who is on his way to the SG cantonal hospital,” wrote the politician on Facebook on Saturday.
His son and two colleagues were attacked by a group on their way home out of nowhere. A picture posted by Stokholm suggests a violent fight ensued. The photo shows his son’s devious face.
“We will file a complaint”
The attack happened in the middle of St. Gallen. “Not good if the exit becomes dangerous,” he continues. And he hopes the perpetrators will soon be caught by the police. Stokholm confirms to Blick that his son and his friends were beaten up by the group. However, he does not want to go into detail about what happened. But one thing is certain: “We will report it,” said the mayor to Blick.
His son has since been released from the hospital, but he is still not doing well. He does not know who is responsible for the crime. His son and his friends would not have known the group.
Beating attack causes outrage online
In the comments to Stokholm’s post, the reactions are overwhelming. A few hours after the post was posted, 50 people have already responded to the post. “Madness”, “terrible” or “just sad” – the mayor’s contribution caused outrage.
And: According to some users, such violent clashes should occur again and again in St. Gallen: “The longer it is, the more of a problem it is,” writes a user. “Unfortunately, it’s been happening more and more often in St. Gallen lately,” agrees another.
The St. Gallen city police confirmed the incident and a corresponding operation on request from Blick. Two people were taken to the hospital to be checked. According to the police, the attack happened not far from the Waaghaus on the Bohl market square in downtown St. Gallen.
