The 600 to 700 fans would now be taken to Zurich-Altstetten with an evacuation train, said SBB spokesman Jürg Grob at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. They assumed that the fans would arrive in Zurich at 5 p.m. The situation is currently calm, although the game was kicked off at 4.30 p.m.
Specialist services are on site to fix the problem as soon as possible, said Grob, confirming a message from the online portal “Watson.ch”. Not only football fans were affected by the disruption.
According to Grob, the IC trains and the TGV between Basel and Zurich as well as the IC5 from Olten to Zurich and the IC8 between Bern and Zurich are canceled. The disruption also had an impact on the S-Bahn. (SDA)
