“It had to happen, even if we didn’t think that Switzerland would be affected so quickly and so badly,” said Vincent Ribordy in an interview published on Monday.
In the eyes of the doctor, Martigny is a concrete consequence of the lack of qualified personnel. A problem that has been known for several years. “One thought the capacity of the system was limitless, but this is not the case,” says Ribordy.
Alternatives would have to be found to relieve the emergency rooms, which are now used as the main interface to the population. “But none of this will work as long as there is a shortage of primary care doctors,” he warned. Quota regulations are not effective. There is a lack of recognition for the profession.
