Blisters in the bivalent Comirnaty vaccine: Swissmedic informed the cantons on Wednesday.
As Swissmedic announced on Wednesday, problems have arisen with the bivalent Pfizer vaccine. The regulatory authority was informed by vaccination centers about the observation of vesicles during the preparation of the vaccine. Vials of the affected lot contained bubbles after being removed from the refrigerator. The affected preparations are the Covid-19 vaccine Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.1 from BioNTech/Pfizer.
«Swissmedic evaluates possible causes together with the authorization holder and analyzes them also samples in our own laboratory,” says the statement. According to the current state of knowledge, the phenomenon seems to increase when the syringes are prepared several hours in advance. Some bottles would already have bubbles when they were taken out of the refrigerator.
As a precautionary measure, Swissmedic has already informed the cantons and vaccination centers. Currently, no preparations containing the bubbles or particles may be administered. (dzc)
