On March 24th, a whole family fell from the seventh floor of an apartment in Montreux VD. A man († 40), his wife († 41), the daughter († 8) and the woman’s twin sister († 41) died. Only the son (15) survived with serious injuries. Now, two months after the incident, the police report: The 15-year-old is out of danger. He suffered multiple fractures and is still in the hospital.
He currently has no memory of the day of the tragedy and could not provide any information about the course of events. He was placed under guardianship.
Third-party influence is excluded
The police continue to say that third parties are now completely excluded. Instead, it is spoken of “collective suicide”. The investigations carried out by the forensic pathologists revealed no signs of violence other than a fall from a height of more than 20 metres.
However, the full medical examiner’s report will not be available for several months. The police investigation has since been completed.
These have shown that the family has been “very interested in conspiracy and survival theses” since the beginning of the corona pandemic, the Vaud canton police said. The family had “an impressive stock of food of all kinds” that “was well organized” and ” took up a large part of the different rooms of the apartment”. The goal was to be able to cope with a crisis with the supplies.
The family lived almost independently and withdrew from society. Only the mother’s twin sister worked outside the home. Neither the mother nor the eight-year-old girl were officially registered with the residents’ registration office. Accordingly, the daughter did not go to school. Mother and daughter were registered as leaving for Morocco in April 2016 and should not live in Montreux.
The eldest son, on the other hand, should go to school. Because he never showed up there, the police went to the apartment on March 24. The father should be questioned about his son’s homeschooling. Nobody opened. Tragedy struck shortly after. (of)
