Series of fires in the water office
The fire devil should now be monitored via GPS
In the spring, a firecracker caused fear and terror in the water authority. The Federal Supreme Court has now approved an appeal by the public prosecutor’s office. The public prosecutor’s office has now requested that alternative measures be ordered.
Martin Z. has been free again since October.
In the spring of 2022, the water authority in the canton of Solothurn was hit by a series of fires. Fires kept breaking out. No coincidence: Fire devil Martin Z.* (33) is said to be behind it. The firefighter was eventually arrested at the end of May.
The fire devil successfully fought against the extension of pre-trial detention and was released from pre-trial detention in October. The public prosecutor’s office has lodged an appeal with the Federal Supreme Court against the release without an order for alternative measures.
Now the Federal Supreme Court has decided: There is no pronounced, but at least a “low-threshold risk of recurrence”. This means that the requirements for pre-trial detention are not met, but alternative measures are appropriate.
Based on this decision, the public prosecutor’s office has now applied to the responsible detention court to order such measures – in particular GPS location monitoring. The decision of the detention court is expected in the next few days. (bab)
