Turtle theft in Zuchwil SO – nine young animals gone

Small animal theft in Zuchwil SO: On Tuesday, strangers stole nine leopard tortoises from the “Swisstropicalfish GmbH” pet shop, according to the Solothurn cantonal police. This animal species is considered endangered and is often traded on the black market. A corresponding «CITES certificate» is required for the purchase or sale.

The stolen turtles are young animals born in 2022 with a shell length of between 6 and 12 centimeters and a weight of between 20 and 40 grams. The owner suffered damage of over 2,000 francs as a result of the theft. The police have started investigations into the perpetrators and are looking for witnesses in this connection.
