brown instead of white

In Wengen, these skiers struggle in the mud.
This ski season in Switzerland is different. Instead of a white winter landscape, there are only green slopes with isolated white wavy lines.
Numerous recordings of skiing experiences from the season are already circulating online. A Tiktok video from Wengen BE shows how bad it looks. With combined forces, some winter sports enthusiasts fight their way through the brown mud. The snow had melted away at this point on the valley run at 1256 meters and left a brown muddy slope. The recordings from Wengen are going viral.
The video by user “@amin1a7” has already been viewed almost 500,000 times on Tiktok. In the comments column you will find opinions in English, French, Italian and German. And they are unequivocal: under these circumstances, one should rather leave it alone. “Has nothing to do with winter sports anymore. Better biking or hiking », finds one user. “I would go home,” writes another. “The poor skis,” writes a user.
“The rest of the valley run was white”
The video has not gone unnoticed in the tourism industry either. “I am familiar with this Tiktok video,” confirms Rolf Wegmüller (45), Director of Wengen Tourism, to “Watson”. It was taken on the valley run down in the village. The slope preparation that day led to heavy soiling.
But that is only the case at 20 to 30 meters. “The rest of the valley run was white and easy to ski,” Wegmüller assures. This is thanks to the modern snowmaking system, in which investments have been made in recent years. It’s now paying off. (hey)
