Almost 104,000 signatures! The SVP managed the referendum against the climate protection law more than well – they collected twice as many signatures as would have been necessary.
The parliamentary group later decided on a special campaign: each National Councilor and Councilor of States was obliged to bring 150 signatures personally. A penalty of ten francs was imposed for each missing signature. The awakening seems to have worked, as can be seen from the collection result.
The SVP criticizes the law as a “senseless and expensive electricity guzzler law”: It brings a power shortage up to blackout, skyrocketing prices and high costs. Heating oil, petrol, diesel and gas would be banned de facto, heating and driving would only be possible with electricity.
The climate target law is an indirect counter-proposal to the glacier initiative, which was partially withdrawn. The Swiss Climate Protection Association, which is behind the initiative, called the referendum an unnecessary delay. (SDA)
