Calida is paying $80 million for a 100 percent stake in Cosabella. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2022, according to a statement on Thursday.
Cosabella was founded in 1983 by Valeria and Ugo Campello in Miami (Florida). The second-generation family business employs around 50 people and generated sales of 29 million US dollars and an operating income (EBITDA) of 4.8 million dollars in the USA in 2021.
With more than 50 percent of the online business, Cosabella is an ideal strategic addition to the existing portfolio of the Calida Group. With its Italian roots, Cosabella also harbors largely untapped potential on the European market, which Calida is now set to tap with the help of its own market position.
Conversely, Cosabella will serve as a linchpin in the USA for a geographical expansion of the Calida Group, it is said. The overseas expansion is in line with Calida’s Accelerate 2026 strategy.
