The 75-year-old will be the headliner of the festival next June and will “play the last show in Great Britain on his very last tour”, as the organizers announced on Twitter on Friday.
According to the British news agency PA, Elton John himself said there was no more appropriate place to say goodbye to his British fans. “You were more than brilliant and have accompanied me through all the ups and downs of my career.” It will be “incredibly emotional” and he can hardly wait to be carried away by the “greatest festival in the world”.
Around 200,000 visitors are regularly expected to attend the Glastonbury Festival in the south-west English county of Somerset.
Elton John is currently traveling around the world with his Farewell Yellow Brick Road farewell tour and recently played his last concert in the USA. His touring career should finally end next summer in Europe.
