The two projects are intended to contribute to the EU’s “Green Deal”, which aims to achieve a climate-neutral economy by 2050 thanks to “clean technologies”.
Holcim announced on Friday that the funding would accelerate the development of projects for storing and using carbon dioxide (Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage CCUS) in Germany and Poland. Holcim’s “Net Zero” roadmap includes more than 50 projects to decarbonize the business worldwide.
The European Union Innovation Fund is one of the world’s largest funding programs for innovative low-carbon technologies. In 2022, the fund promised more than 1.8 billion euros for 17 major clean technology projects. A total of 138 applications were submitted.
