The prize in the “Best Non-English Language Film” category went to Argentina for “Argentina, 1985”. “Close” (Belgium), “Decision to Leave” (South Korea) and “RRR” (India) were also nominated. The awards of the Association of Foreign Press (HFPA) in 27 film and television categories were presented in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night.

“Nothing new in the West” is also Germany’s Oscar candidate. The book by Erich Maria Remarque from 1929 describes the horror of the First World War from the perspective of a young soldier. Most recently, the Golden Globe went to Germany for the best foreign film in 2018 with the NSU drama “Out of nowhere” by Fatih Akin.
