That corresponds to around six percent of the average daily volume. In the case of parcels, around one million shipments are affected and thus around 15 percent of the average daily volume.
“Since the participation in the strikes varies in the individual regions and locations, they will also have different effects,” the company said. In some cases, letters and parcels could only be delivered “with a few days’ delay”. In addition to the warning strikes, “in some regions the difficult weather conditions caused by the onset of winter” caused restrictions.
According to the Post, around 9,400 employees responded to the call for a strike on Saturday, “just over a third of the employees currently present today”. The warning strikes began on Thursday afternoon.
In the collective bargaining conflict, Verdi is demanding 15 percent more money and an increase in training allowances for a period of one year. Deutsche Post rejected this as unfinanceable. The next round of negotiations is scheduled for February 8th and 9th. (SDA)
