The larger search operation by police and rescue workers in a residential building on Müllheimerstrasse in the city center took place in the afternoon, according to the Basel canton police. The arrest was made on suspicion of violating the Explosives Act, violence and threats against officials and preventing an official act.
According to the police, an employee of the cantonal police was attacked from the house with fireworks on Tuesday. The woman was unharmed, a spokesman for the cantonal police in Basel-Stadt told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. It was an employee who distributed parking buses.
According to the police, several containers with a non-hazardous liquid were found during a search of the property. The police did not say what it was. Because the liquid initially appeared suspicious, experts from the fire brigade examined the material.
