Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. is laid out in Rome.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. († 95) was laid out in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome two days after his death. Shortly after 9 a.m. on Monday morning, the Vatican opened the doors of the basilica and let in the people waiting outside.

The public can now say goodbye to Joseph Ratzinger, as Benedikt was called by his real name. The funeral service and burial in St. Peter’s Basilica are planned for Thursday.
