The railway operator transported almost 828,000 passengers in the financial year ending at the end of October. That is almost 64 percent more than in the previous year, as the company announced on Thursday. However, there are still around a third fewer guests than the record number of 1.24 million passengers in 2018/19.
According to the communiqué, the global travel market is recovering rapidly from the corona pandemic and international guests are coming back. The strategy of being present and active in many markets even during the crisis is paying off.
According to the information, the number of individual travelers from Switzerland and neighboring countries stabilized at a high level. At the same time, many travelers from all over the world took advantage of the easier travel conditions and ensured visitor numbers that were sometimes higher than before the pandemic.
Against this background, traffic revenue almost doubled to CHF 33.2 million. And the income from the restaurants and hotels was 10.9 million, more than twice as high as in the previous year. Overall, the operating income was 39 percent higher at 53.5 million.
Meanwhile, operating expenses rose by only 25 percent to 36.9 million. The Titlis Bergbahnen thus achieved a profit of 3.3 million francs for the first time since the outbreak of the corona pandemic. In the previous year, the company had made a loss of 5 million francs due to the pandemic.
