Christina Applegate had to be brought to the set of “Dead to Me” in a wheelchair because of her multiple sclerosis.

“A terribly nice family” made US actress Christina Applegate (50) a star in the 90s. Today she is struggling with her health. For the first time, the Hollywood star speaks about how the neurological disease multiple sclerosis (MS) affects her work. She received the diagnosis while filming the third and final season of her Netflix show “Dead to Me”. On the set, her health condition made her very difficult.

What is multiple sclerosis?

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system and is one of the most common neurological diseases. Women get sick twice as often as men. MS is currently not curable. However, the disease is not fatal and is not contagious. In the relapsing variant, patients can be symptom-free for a long time before the disease flares up again.

Experts assume that multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s defenses are directed against nerve fibers. Symptoms can include paralysis or loss of strength with increased muscle tension. Also to disturbances in the coordination of movements, eye trembling, trembling with a purposeful movement and choppy speech. Inflammation of the optic nerve or depressive disorders can also occur.

The show will air on November 17th and will see Applegate transformed. “It’s the first time someone has seen me for who I am,” the actress told the New York Times. “I gained 18 kilograms. I can’t walk without a cane.” However, the actress deliberately does not want to hide from the public.
