Jill Lange’s tears come when she reports on the “DSDS” casting.
Dieter Bohlen’s (68) comeback on “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” failed. The pop titan caused a sexism scandal when casting Jill Lange (22). But he shows no remorse for it.
In a tearful statement, reality TV star Jill Lange addressed her followers a few days ago. The German criticized the fact that Bohlen asked her whether she had done something “normal” in life or just graduated from high school and then “let herself be noodled”? The background: Jill Lange was seen in trash TV shows like “Are You The One” and “Ex on the Beach”, which Bohlen describes as “scrap”. In programs that belong to RTL, just like “DSDS”, she had sex several times.
Dieter Bohlen continues to stand by his opinion
On Instagram, Dieter Bohlen now makes it clear that Lange does not get an apology from him. The “DSDS” juror shares a photo of a message he received. It says: “Please do not apologize under any circumstances! You’re absolutely right, but unfortunately you can’t express your opinion freely in Germany these days.” It is a normal question whether you have learned something after school. And if a person consciously behaves sexually in several TV formats, Lange doesn’t have to cry when someone addresses it. Finally, the author emphasizes: “I’m really disappointed in you, should you give in to the pressure and apologize. I hope you continue to stand by that opinion.” That’s what Bohlen intends to do, because he writes about the message: “But something like that.”
RTL has previously issued a statement. In a statement available to the German newspaper “Bild”, the TV broadcaster writes: “In the context of the discussion about Jill’s dating show experiences, we saw no reason to cut the dialogue from the show. (…) Jill could have left the competition at any time if she felt she was being treated unfairly – but she didn’t do that.”
Jill Lange responds to the RTL statement
But that annoys Jill Lange. “Of course it’s not very easy to run away and say I’ve been treated like shit, I’m going to stop now. If everyone thought like that, the top ten would be fixed in the first casting, »she reacts on Instagram. If you struggle with slutshaming at work or are bullied at school, you can’t just run away either. “I didn’t mean to convey that. It’s not easy to cancel. I wanted to face it and I am committed to ensuring that something like this is not right, »explains Lange.
She has always spoken her mind and will never be silenced. “Believe me, I’m not the kind of person who breaks off when conflicts arise or when things are difficult. If something doesn’t suit me, then I say so and move on,” says Lange, adding: “If they had shown what I would have said exactly, then this statement would not have had to be given because I already said enough have.”
“It is almost impossible to change men over 50”
His jury colleague Katja Krasavice (26), who is the only member to comment, also seems to think little of Dieter Bohlen’s behavior. The rapper says to “Bild”: “I don’t want to protect Dieter, but what Dieter says is unfortunately what almost all over 50 men think. The difference is: he says it, the others think it. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case!» There are a lot of white old men in the industry – be it the music industry or the film industry – who still speak condescendingly of women.
“It’s almost impossible to change men over 50, even if I fight for it every day,” says Krasavice. What is now much more important is that women, for example, show today’s generation, as they do every day in their music and on social media, that this is not okay. “That’s why I told Jill that she should be who she is and not pretend for others and that she shouldn’t do anything bad.” (bsn)
