How well does Prince Harry (38) remember the past? You can ask yourself this question when you read a story by the Duke of Sussex in his memoirs “Reserve”. He claims he found out about the death of his great-grandmother Queen Mum (1900-2002) at Eton College boys’ boarding school. Pictures now show: At the time of her death, Harry was with his father, King Charles III. (74) and his brother Prince William (40) in Switzerland.
“The evidence indicates that he was undoubtedly in Klosters when Queen Mum died,” royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams (73) told the Daily Mail. As evidence, the newspaper provides pictures of the then prince with his two boys from Graubünden, who were shot at the weekend when the queen mother died. It was the first public appearance after Prince Harry, then 17, admitted to underage drinking and cannabis use, the BBC reported at the time.
Harry memoirs are best sellers
According to his publisher, Prince Harry’s memoirs have already sold 400,000 copies. This was announced by the publisher Transworld Penguin Random House on Tuesday afternoon. The autobiography “Spare” (German: “Reserve”) was published on Tuesday morning.
In addition to the hardcover editions, the copies sold also include e-books and audio books. “We always knew this book would fly high, but it exceeds even our most optimistic expectations,” said Larry Finlay, the publisher’s managing director, according to the PA news agency. “As far as we know, the only books that sold more on day one are the ones with the other Harry (Potter).”
Written with the help of ghostwriter JR Moehringer, Harry’s 500+ page autobiography includes his take on tensions within the royal family and plenty of personal details. The book was mistakenly available in Spanish bookstores for a short time last week, so parts of the content have already been made public. (SDA)

Doubts about the veracity of other details
Prince Harry’s story reads differently: he was at the English boarding school Eton at the time, he writes. The call reached him “while learning”. ‘I wish I remembered whose voice was on the other end of the line; a court official, I suppose,” Prince Harry continued. “It was shortly before Easter, it was a beautiful and warm day. The rays of light that fell obliquely through my window were vividly coloured.” He was told: “Your Royal Highness the Queen Mother has passed away.”
At Fitzwilliams, Harry’s version raises questions. Based on a quote from Queen Elizabeth II, he states that “some memories can vary”. However, this is a “serious error” that raises doubts about the truthfulness of other details. If you hire a ghostwriter and don’t check the facts properly, this can happen.

Question about a gift from Princess Diana
Prince Harry also claims to have received an Xbox for his 13th birthday shortly after the death of his mother, Princess Diana (1961-1997). His aunt Sarah McCorquodale (67) gave him this. Only: This console did not come onto the market until the end of 2001. It is possible that he was wrong about the name of the game console.
There was also an error with Switzerland in the Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan”, which was released in December: The viewer was told that a scene of Harry and his family on the slopes took place in Switzerland, with numerous signs in the background of the Lech am Arlberg ski area in Austria.
Prince Harry admits in “Reserve” that his memory suffered from the death of his mother.
